Alien Instruments UBIK: The Talking MIDI Mapper

Welcome to Alien Instruments UBIK, the talking MIDI mapping solution. Create groups for your controls and start adding sliders and buttons to send MIDI CC’s. Completely accessible for screen reading and keyboard navigation. Labelling groups and components also labels for screen reading. Design your own interface and map it to the device or software you wish to control. Each slider has a MIDI learn button, click this and follow the voice prompts to map your controller. When adding a slider, you can map the output range displayed on the screen and spoken aloud to and integer or float to match the parameter you are controlling. Alternatively, you can display or hear the current MIDI CC value. For buttons you can set the on value to any cc value, when mapped this will speak as “parameter name” on and off and display the same in the button. To get started click the add group button and follow the prompts. Or take a guided tour of the interface and settings by clicking the "Start Tour" button.

If you are using a screen reader to take the tour after clicking start tour focus will go to a heading level 2, this is the parameter name, and that component shows focus in the UI. Use the tab key and next will be a heading level 3 with a description and context of the area or item. Press tab again and you will focus on the next button, followed by previous and then close buttons. When the tour ends there will be a finish button.

Have fun and enjoy!

Alien Instruments Atom Synth

Particle Synth is an interactive, browser-based audio-visual synthesizer that fuses real-time 3D particle physics with polyphonic sound synthesis, modulation, and MIDI control. At its core, Particle Synth uses a physics engine (Cannon.js) and 3D rendering (Three.js) to simulate and display electrons, protons, and neutrons in a bounded virtual space. Each particle’s movement and position can be mapped as modulation sources to sound parameters of a versatile dual-oscillator polyphonic synth, built with Tone.js.

Users can:

Spawn and control particles (electrons, protons, neutrons), each with unique physics behaviors and customizable visual appearance.

Assign particle axes (X, Y, Z) as modulation sources for a wide range of synth and effect parameters—essentially turning atomic movement into dynamic audio modulation.

Shape sounds with a flexible dual-oscillator architecture, multimode filter, envelope controls, portamento, and a chain of effects (delay, tremolo, auto-filter, phaser, pitch shift, and more).

Automate and randomize notes, modulate sound using real physics, and save or recall complete sound setups as presets.

Map MIDI CCs to any parameter using a built-in MIDI learn system.

Visualize all particle activity and sound shaping in real-time in a 3D environment, complete with interactive UI panels for both sound and physics parameters.

The result is a unique “atomic synthesizer” where sound and visuals are intrinsically connected: physical particle dynamics become modulation sources, allowing users to experiment with sound design in an intuitive, playful, and deeply interactive way.

Alien Instruments Phonetical

Phonetical is a real-time, multi-accent, programmable speech synthesizer that lets you create and shape speech, syllables, and singing—one phoneme at a time. Instead of stringing together audio samples or relying on black-box TTS, Phonetical synthesizes the sound of human (and inhuman!) speech directly from its acoustic building blocks: vowels and consonants, constructed using formant synthesis and bandpass filtering.

Key Features:

True Phoneme Synthesis: Every sound is synthesized from scratch—no pre-recorded samples, just pure oscillators, noise, and filters.

Multi-Accent: Choose from multiple built-in accent presets, including American and British English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Hindi, Mandarin, and Italian.

Flexible Input: Type words, phoneme sequences (IPA or ARPAbet), or even play speech live via your MIDI keyboard.

Expressive Speech: Fine-tune vibrato, formant morphing, consonant boost, and more to shape robotic or naturalistic voices.

Realtime Control: All parameters respond instantly, and speech can be triggered chromatically—great for talking synth leads, vocal effects, or experimental sound design.

MIDI Learn & Presets: Map any parameter to MIDI controls, save and recall custom settings, or export/import your patches.

Modular Drag-and-Drop Effects: Design your dream FX chain: drag in chorus, phaser, delay, distortion, mutators, morphing filters, EQ, compressor, ring mod, auto-panner, and more. Rearrange, tweak, or remove effects at any time with instant feedback.

Unlike typical speech engines, Phonetical is designed for creative exploration: It’s a tool for musicians, sound designers, linguists, and tinkerers who want hands-on control over the mechanics of speech synthesis. Play with formants, accent switching, live vowel morphing, or MIDI-driven talking basslines. See how “robotic” or “natural” you can make your synthetic voice.
