Morpheus is a feature-rich, browser-based wavetable synthesizer built for sonic exploration, accessibility, and creativity—right in your web browser, with no installation required.

Morpheus puts you in control with powerful wavetable synthesis, a flexible modulation matrix, a full suite of effects, and a modern modular UI. Every aspect of the synth can be controlled by voice commands, mouse, keyboard, or MIDI—making it truly hands-free and accessible to everyone.

Tips

Use parameter names as they appear above, always with their group/module.
Say one command at a time and wait for a response.
For dropdowns, say the value as it appears in the UI.
For modulation, always "pick up" and then "drop on".
For toggles, say "on/off", "enable/disable", or (where supported) "serial/parallel".

Filters

Morpheus gives you two versatile filter types—Dual Filter and Morphing Filter—designed for both classic tone-shaping and modern, animated filtering effects.

Dual Filter

The Dual Filter lets you sculpt your sound with two separate filters (A & B) that can be run in series (one after the other) or parallel (side-by-side). Each filter has independent type and frequency controls, plus a soft overdrive stage for added character.

Filter Types: Each filter can be set to low-pass, high-pass, or other types for flexible sound shaping.
Drive: Adds gentle distortion for warmth and edge.
Serial/Parallel Routing: Switch between classic serial filtering or wide, parallel tones.
Freq A / Freq B: Sets the cutoff frequency for each filter.

Morphing Filter

The Morphing Filter blends between two filter types (e.g., low-pass and high-pass) using a single Morph control. This lets you sweep smoothly between very different filter shapes, creating rich, animated timbres.

Filter A & Filter B: Each has its own type, cutoff, and resonance settings.
Morph: Crossfades between Filter A and Filter B for dynamic filter motion.
Output Gain: Controls the output level of the filter block.
LFO Modulation: Morph can be modulated at audio-rate by its own built-in LFO for movement and animation.

Filter Modulation Controls

Bypass: Turns filter LFO modulation on or off.
LFO Rate: Controls how quickly the filter morphs, from very slow sweeps to fast modulation (0.01 to 5 Hz).
LFO Depth: Adjusts how much the LFO affects the filter morph amount.
Filter Mix: Sets the balance between Filter A and Filter B outputs (0 = all A, 1 = all B, 0.5 = even blend).

Tips:

Use Serial mode for traditional filter sweeps, Parallel for broader, layered textures.
Automate Morph with the LFO for rhythmic or evolving filter effects.
Increase Drive for extra bite, especially on bass or leads.
Combine with modulation matrix for even more creative filter movement.

Envelope

Envelopes

Morpheus provides three powerful envelopes to shape your sound:

Amp Envelope (ADSR):
Controls the volume contour for every note. Classic Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release settings let you craft punchy plucks, smooth pads, or long evolving fades.
- Attack: Time to reach full volume when a note is pressed.
- Decay: Time to fall from full volume to sustain level.
- Sustain: Level held while you hold the note.
- Release: Time to fade out after the note is released.
Modulation Envelopes (2x ADSR):
Two additional envelopes can be routed to modulate any parameter you choose—such as filter cutoff, pitch, oscillator morph, FX mix, or even LFO rate/depth. This allows deep, evolving and expressive sound design.
- Assign these envelopes to any destination using the modulation matrix, drag & drop, keyboard, or voice control.
- Each modulation envelope works independently and can have its own timing and shape.

Creative Hints:

Use the amp envelope for shaping note dynamics—short attack and release for percussive sounds, long attack and release for lush pads.
Route a mod envelope to filter cutoff for classic synth sweeps, or to pitch for wild laser/zap FX.
Combine envelopes with LFOs for even more complex, moving modulation.

LFO's

LFOs & Modulation

Morpheus features flexible LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) that let you modulate almost any parameter—bringing your sounds to life with motion and expression.

Modulate Anything (Mouse): Drag an LFO output ring and drop it onto any slider to assign modulation.
- Once dropped, drag the target slider to set the modulation depth (how much the LFO moves that parameter).
- To remove modulation from a control, hold Shift and left-click the slider.
Keyboard Modulation:
- Press P to “pick up” the focused LFO source.
- Navigate to your target slider and press P again to “drop” and assign modulation.
- Press Shift+P to remove modulation from the focused control.
Voice Control:
- Say “Pick up LFO one” (or two/three), then “Drop on [parameter]” to assign modulation by voice.
- Say “Remove modulation from [parameter]” or use Shift-P as above.

Tip: Use LFOs to modulate filter cutoff, oscillator morph, effects, or any creative parameter for evolving and expressive patches!

LFO Shapes

Effects

Delay

Bypass: Turns the delay effect on or off instantly. Use this to compare your sound with and without echo.
Time: Sets how long it takes for the echo to repeat, from fast slapback (20ms) to long, spacious repeats (up to 1000ms). Try short times for a "doubling" effect or long times for spacious, rhythmic echoes.
Feedback: Controls how much of the delayed signal is fed back into the effect. Low feedback gives a single repeat, while high feedback creates multiple echoes or even self-oscillating effects. Experiment with high feedback for dreamy ambient tails or special effects.
Cutoff: Applies a lowpass filter to the repeated echoes, making each successive repeat sound darker and less bright. This mimics classic tape delays and keeps echoes from cluttering the mix.
Wet: Adjusts the blend between your dry (original) signal and the delayed echoes. Set it low for subtle space, or high for a fully echoed effect.

Creative tip: Automate delay time or feedback with modulation or MIDI to create dub-style delay throws, rhythmic stutters, or pitch-shifting echo effects.

Distortion

Bypass: Turns distortion on or off for instant A/B comparison.
Drive: Sets how much your signal is boosted and distorted. Low drive adds gentle warmth and analog character; high drive introduces crunch, grit, or even fuzz.
Curve: Changes the shape and intensity of the distortion. Try subtle curves for smooth saturation or extreme settings for aggressive, digital distortion.

Creative tip: Use distortion to make basses cut through the mix, add edge to leads, or transform simple waveforms into aggressive, modern tones.

Ring Modulation

Bypass: Switches ring modulation on or off.
Freq: Sets the frequency of the modulator signal. Low frequencies (below 20Hz) produce tremolo-like effects; higher frequencies (above 50Hz) create metallic, bell-like, or robotic textures.
Depth: Controls how much the ring modulator affects the sound. Lower depth blends in the effect subtly, while higher depth produces more dramatic, experimental results.

Creative tip: Animate ring mod frequency with an LFO for evolving timbres, or try modulating depth for rhythmic movement. Great for sci-fi sound design or complex percussive tones.

Reverb

Bypass: Instantly toggles the reverb effect.
Decay / Duration: Sets how long the reverb tail lasts, from a tight, boxy room (Shortest) to endless, atmospheric washes (Longest). Choose a short decay for snappy percussion, or long reverb for ambient pads and drones.
High Cut / Low Cut: Filters the frequencies of the reverb, letting you make the effect darker (high cut), brighter, or filtered for vintage and modern textures.
Wet: Sets how much reverb is mixed with your dry sound. Subtle settings can add depth and space; 100% wet can create surreal, fully-ambient sounds.

Creative tip: Automate wet level or decay to create build-ups, breakdowns, or transitions. Filtering the reverb tail with high/low cut can help vocals or leads sit perfectly in a busy mix.

Presets

Preset Manager

Morpheus includes a powerful Preset Manager so you can save, recall, share, and organize your favorite synth sounds and configurations with ease.

Save: Store all current synth settings—including sliders, toggles, menu choices, and modulation assignments—under a custom name for easy recall.
Load: Instantly restore all parameters and routings from any saved preset with a single click.
Delete: Remove presets you no longer need to keep your library organized.
Export: Download all your presets as a portable .json file for backup or sharing.
Import: Load presets from other users or past sessions by importing .json files. Supports both single and multiple preset imports.

Accessibility: All preset actions are accessible by mouse or keyboard. ARIA live feedback announces each action for screen readers. Presets are stored locally for quick access—no cloud required.

Editing Shortcuts

Open the Edit Shortcuts panel.
Click the Change button for the shortcut you want to set.
Press the new key combination (modifiers first, then the main key).
Your shortcut is updated and saved automatically.

Tip: If you set a shortcut that's already assigned, you'll be notified to pick a different combination. All shortcuts are accessible and announced for screen reader users.
